"Kuya Junjun leads the substance addiction recovery program at Serenity up in Baguio.
I give him 5 stars because he deserves it. He's really good at what he does, and his approach is especially effective because his group therapy is centered on keeping the group strong and united towards the common goal of recovery which we all share, but he doesn't stop there, because though we are all there for the same reason, each of us had different experiences which led us to that unity. Kuya Junjun then moves on to address our "to each his own" issues, studies the best way to approach and confront them based on the individual's situation and capacity and level of understanding, encourages us to speak what some would rather keep in the shadows, and proceeds to guide us to address how we feel, and then boom, I feel it. I'm not sure it worked the same way for everybody, that's probably just me. Another thing I find good about the way he runs the program is the balance it provides. One the one hand, he passes on information and knowledge key to recovery and understanding; on the other hand, he focuses on increasing emotional awareness, which is more essential than given credit for, in the journey of recovery. The community-based outreach programs are also something I enjoyed. When I lose feelings of self-worth, I find it through helping others, in whatever small way that I can. A little humility can go a long way, this is his program to me in a sentence. I'll be okay as long as I keep my feet planted firmly on the ground. Thank you kuya Junjun! " "S" , A former client |
